ASEAN Student Exchange Program: Kuliah 1 Semester di Negara ASEAN, Balik ke-UI Tinggal Transfer SKS.

Many ASEAN universities have established the credit system generally at the undergraduate level to display students' workload within universities. Credit system is also considered a factor that can facilitate and promote mobility of students and academic exchange among institutions and countries. However, it is obvious that there are different perceptions and steps taken in the credit system of ASEAN countries e.g. Brunei, Thailand and the Philippines, where credits systems are already in use; Malaysia's effort to harmonise credit systems at the national level and Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam where credit systems have just been introduced.

As a result of globalization process, the world is more integrated and learning opportunity has been widely increasing. Students can easily acces to the knowledge and gain education advantage from around the world. In this case, the effective credit transfer system and its quality assurance will be an important factor to facilitate mobility and raise a number of exchange activities at in-country level, between ASEAN universities or beyond the region.

The most exensive mobility of student which appeared in ASEAN countries such as Brunei, Thailand and Malaysia were previously operating transfer through Memoranda of Agreement or bilateral arrangements. Also, the effort to establish an open ASEAN area of higher education has been taken and in this respect the establishment of credit transfer system seems to be important for both stakeholders in order to develop curriculum with a mutual standard and recognition.

A. Aims and Scope of the ACTS
Aims of the ACTS

1. To enhance and facilitate student mobility among AUN Member Universities.
2. To prepare students in AUN Member Universities for ASEAN integration by 2015.
3. To prepare students for a future career that will likely involve moving around in the region.
4. To help promote harmony, understanding and the ASEAN spirit in the region.
5. Complement the programmes of individual universities by expanding the choices of courses and  programmes available to their students.
6. To strengthen higher education cooperation among the AUN Member Universities.

Scope of the ACTS

1. To be implemented by AUN Member Universities.
2. To be applicable for both undergraduate and graduate students.
3. To be applied to all programmes open under the AUN Student Exchange Programme.

B. Key Features of the ACTS

1. The ACTS will be a student-centered system based on students workload in terms of the learning outcomes.
2. The ACTS will be applicable to student mobility and exchanges in the general duration of one, up to a maximum of two academic semesters, or a shorter period of study (for example, a summer semester) if deemed necessary.
3. The ACTS will take into account the existing institutional and national credit systems for the expression and conversion of credits, study periods and learning outcome achievements .
4. The ACTS will not require a modification of the existing institutional or national credit systems.

D. Responsibilities of the Parties
 Participating Universities
In order to develop a culture of student mobility in ASEAN, the responsibilities of participating universities under the AUN Student Exchange Programme shall be as follows:

Home universities will minimally provide;
•    assistance in facilitating and making travel arrangements of their outgoing students

Host universities will minimally provide;
•    tuition fee waiver
•    arrangements for accommodation
•    assistance in obtaining student entry visas and student permits
•    assistance for airport transfers
•    assistance in the safety and general welfare of the incoming exchange students

Students
Will comply with the terms and conditions of the AUN-ACTS Student Exchange Agreement
